Shay Cleary Architect’s Low-Rise, Medium-Density Residential Community for Kildare County Council has been submitted for Part 8 approval this week. The development on Station Road in Kildare Town comprises 30 innovative own-door social housing maisonettes, houses and duplexes, formed around new landscaped public spaces at the heart of the scheme. The practice won the project in international competition in 2023, and has worked alongside Kildare County Council and other stakeholders to deliver the original strong conceptual vision for site.
Building upon our expertise in innovative forms of housing, the development is inherently low-rise, protecting the amenities of surrounding neighbours, while achieving much needed sustainable development density, through economic housebuilding methods. The form of the development integrates into the local context, the distinctive triangular public space relating to the nearby Market Square of Kildare Town, and forming a new public ‘room’. We look forward to progressing this important project into the tender and construction stages, to deliver much needed housing for the local area.
